Review

Katherine J. from Victorville, CA wrote in “I have been eating a low carb diet for year and was so glad when I found the Julian Bakery Smart Carb bread # 1. It seems in August they launched a new and improved version of the bread that does not have soy and includes whey protein and chicory root which I guess is inulin. I did a little research on inulin and it is truly amazing. From what I gather it allows for carbohydrates to pass through your system without being digested or spiking blood sugar. All I can say is that I have been eating 2-3 slices a day for the 6 Months and during that time I went from 156lbs down to 128lbs. I have never felt better and I could not have done my low carb diet without the Julian Bakery – They truly are a blessing!! .”

Blood Sugar Sensitive Customer Disclaimer: We have found from our customers that the vast majority who have blood sugar issues can eat our Smart Carb breads, but we ask that you test your blood sugar levels before eating one slice (with protein & no sugar) and then again two hours after eating the one slice (with protein & no sugar). I started Atkins (again), and found this bread at the local health food store. WOW, what a masterpiece of baking. I was attempting to make my own low carb or no carb bread and failed horribly (yuck), so this has been a lifesaver for me. Not only is it very tasty, but lots of fiber which we all need when on this diet. Kinda makes this diet very easy having a REAL sandwich instead of rolled up lettuce wraps, LOL..THANK YOU for helping us achieve this life changing battle. I will be ordering your products monthly and freezing for daily use. P.S. No effect on induction that I see.

I am outof your breads and going through a little withdrawal :) . Your breads are fantastic!! I have been on the Atkins diet several times over the past 10 years and have had success with it, but I find I can’t stayon it for long periods of time, that has all changed with your bread. I have gone from 240 lbs to 189 lbs since last October and now that I have been orderingyour bread I can easily stay on this diet. It makes so much difference being able to have a sandwich at lunch, or put a hamburg on your bread.

    Thank you,

    Thomas B Kerby

I have to say, I thought I would never have bread again but I just had a slice of your bread toasted with almond butter and it was so good! I’m so happy that I can just go to quincy ( I live in boston) and buy this !

Got my bread yesterday and had a nice turkey sandwich with cheese ! Toasted the bread and couldn’t believe how it didn’t fall apart. This was what I was looking for! Thanks Julian Bakery from New Jersey!

I’ve had to spend the last few days without the Smart Carb #1, because I didn’t reorder when I should have, and I can tell a big difference in my “hunger” level throughout the day. When I have a good supply on hand and get a little hungry, I’ll toast a piece and then top it with melted cheese or make an open-faced ham and cheese sandwich and it fills me up for hours. I can’t wait for my bread to arrive so I’ll have access to a good, healthy, filling snack when I want one!

  • Pforte17

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your bread. It is so delish !!! It is very filling so it keeps me full all day . I just love the #2 carb raisin bread . Sometimes I make french toast or just eat it for a snack . I add a little cream cheese and no sugar blueberry jam. It tastes like a piece of pastry. Don’t ever stop making these products . Please try to sell it in stores in R.I. I have to have mine shipped from Good Health Natural Foods in Quincy Mass . I have a case at a time shipped and freeze it. Thank you Julian’s Bakery . I lost 40 lbs on a low carb diet. Your bread fits perfectly into my diet.

Can u go public! I’d like shares

  • Thekulcsar5

I absolutely love your breads. I travel 30 miles n buy 6 loaves at a time an freeze them. I’ve always gone back on Atkins before the summer lol to take off those extra pounds n even when I’m not on Atkins it’s the only bread I eat because I believe in a high fiber bread. This bread is truly unbelievable. Thank you. Never stop!!!!! A winning recipe !!!!

  • Ginny

I can’t believe how great this bread tastes! Love it toasted! THANK YOU!!!

  • Annie

I ordered the Smart Carb #1 and the Cinnamon Raisin bread and just received them today. I toasted one piece of the raisen bread, just as soon as I opened the box. I was so happy to eat a piece of bread for the first time in a month. Then I made me a grilled cheese and ham sandwich with the other bread. both was soo good. I can’t believe how good this bread is. If you are on a low carb diet, and want bread, please buy this bread. Yes, its a little costly, but to me, worth it.

    Message:
I just wanted you to know that I was eating some of your 1 carb bread and my 5 year old grand-daughter wanted a bite, then another and then I gave her the rest of the slice, she asked for more and said it reminded her of something (keep in mind she is 5) and she loved the taste, as do I. Thanks for making such wonderful breads.

  • Liz Blevins

Silly question, but it the bread already cut/portioned as the correct serving size?

    • http://www.julianbakery.com/ Julian Bakery

      Yes!

  • Bob

Question, does this bread freeze well?

    Thanks, Bob.

    • http://www.julianbakery.com/ Julian Bakery

Yes, they freeze great up to three months!!

  • Ken

I’ve tried a number of breads with reduced carb content, but I can honestly say none of the others compare with yours, both for flavor and texture. Yes, it is a bit dense, but I like a bread with substance, not the airy, nutrition-free store varieties. I toasted a slice this morning and slathered it with margarine. It has a nutty taste and is very filling. I found myself eating it slowly, enjoying each bite.

Some reduced carb breads have a tough texture and are often dry. Yours is neither dry not tough, it’s tasty, moist and satisfying.

    I’ll be back for more.

Many of our customers can stay in Ketosis and eat our bread in phase one. I would always suggest Ketosis strips to ensure you stay in Ketosis.

  • breadfreak

Had my first slice this morning and almost felt guilty as the texture was hearty, chewy and the taste was artisanal. Finally, a bread that makes the term low-carb “diet” obsolete and turns eating low carb into a “lifestyle” I can live with the rest of my life. Thank you, thank you!!!

  • Spikeygrrl

I have lost over 100 lbs on Atkins in the last couple of years, and once a month or so I feel like tearing my face off if I can’t have a sandwich! Enter your 1-net-carb bread. What a Godsend! Thank you for saving my sanity :)

  • Jrmayes55

After opening , it needs to be refrigerated ?

    • http://www.julianbakery.com/ Julian Bakery

Yes, our bread last 2 weeks in the fridge and 3 months in the freezer. It actually stays extremely fresh when frozen. You can simply twist a slice off pop it into the toaster and it toast up fresh!

    • Spikeygrrl

I keep mine in the freezer, and take out for defrosting ONLY the number of slices — usually two — I intend to use within the next 24 hours.

Also, I question the “three months in the freezer” metric. I once found four slices I’d forgotten about, shoved all the way to the back of the freezer for more than SIX months…and when I defrosted it the texture and taste were exactly the same as if it had only been frozen for a week.
